Digital Product Licence

Last updated: 11 September 2026

This Digital Product Licence applies to all digital products purchased from The Editable Wedding, unless a product listing or separate written agreement expressly states otherwise.

The Editable Wedding is operated by Abbey Smith, trading as The Editable Wedding, in New Zealand.

By purchasing, downloading, accessing or using one of our digital products, you agree to the terms of this licence.

1. Licence Granted

When you purchase a digital product from The Editable Wedding, you receive a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to use that product for one wedding, celebration or personal event.

You are purchasing permission to use the design in accordance with this licence.

You are not purchasing ownership, copyright or intellectual-property rights in the underlying template or design.

All rights not expressly granted under this licence remain with The Editable Wedding or the relevant third-party rights holder.

2. Personal Use

A standard purchase is intended for personal use in connection with one wedding or event.

You may:

  • edit and personalise the template;
  • change wording, names, dates, colours and other editable elements;
  • resize the design where the template or Canva allows;
  • create the number of finished copies reasonably required for your event;
  • print the completed design at home or through a printing provider;
  • provide finished files to your printer, venue, wedding planner or other vendors where necessary for your event;
  • send finished digital files to your guests where appropriate; and
  • use the finished product as part of your wedding or personal event.

There is no limit on the reasonable number of finished copies you may print for the event covered by your licence.

3. Adapting or Repurposing a Template

You may modify, resize or adapt a purchased template for other stationery or signage required for the same wedding or event.

For example, you may choose to adapt elements of a purchased design into another format for your own event.

However, each product sold by The Editable Wedding is designed and supplied for the purpose described in its product listing. Repurposing a template beyond its intended purpose is at your own discretion and is not necessarily supported or guaranteed to work correctly.

The Editable Wedding is not required to provide additional templates, formatting assistance or customisation support where a customer chooses to substantially repurpose a purchased design.

Permission to adapt a template for your own event does not permit you to create products for resale, another customer, another wedding or commercial use.

4. Sharing Finished Files

You may provide a finished, non-editable export of your design to people who reasonably need it in connection with your event.

This may include:

  • printing companies;
  • wedding planners or coordinators;
  • venues;
  • photographers or other wedding vendors;
  • family members assisting with the event; and
  • wedding guests.

Finished files may include formats such as PDF, JPG or PNG.

These people may use the finished file only as required for your licensed event.

5. Sharing Editable Templates

You may not share, distribute, publish or transfer the editable template link to another person except where reasonably necessary for someone working directly on the same licensed event on your behalf.

For example, you may permit your wedding planner to assist you with editing the template for your wedding.

You must not:

  • post the editable template link publicly;
  • share it in online groups or forums;
  • provide it to friends for their own weddings;
  • upload the editable template to file-sharing websites;
  • redistribute it as a free resource;
  • sell access to it; or
  • allow others to reuse it for separate events.

Your purchase covers one licensed event only.

6. Wedding Planners, Designers and Other Professionals

Wedding planners, coordinators, designers and other wedding professionals may purchase and use a product on behalf of one individual client or one individual event.

Under a standard licence, a professional may:

  • edit the template for that client;
  • work collaboratively with the client where necessary;
  • send the final design to relevant vendors; and
  • provide finished files to the client.

A professional may not reuse the same purchased template for another client.

A new purchase or appropriate extended licence is required for each additional client unless otherwise agreed with The Editable Wedding in writing.

Professionals who would like to use our designs regularly across multiple clients should contact:

theeditablewedding@gmail.com

We may offer separate wholesale, multi-client or extended licensing and pricing by agreement.

7. Commercial Use Is Not Included

A standard purchase does not include commercial-use rights.

Unless you have received written permission or purchased an appropriate extended licence, you may not use our products to:

  • create products for sale;
  • create templates for resale;
  • provide editable designs as part of a paid template library;
  • manufacture stationery or signage for general commercial sale;
  • create downloadable products for another marketplace or website;
  • create products for multiple paying clients from one purchase; or
  • otherwise generate commercial revenue from the underlying template itself.

Using a template in connection with your own wedding or one permitted client event does not constitute prohibited commercial use under this licence.

8. Resale and Redistribution

You may not:

  • resell the original template;
  • redistribute the template;
  • sublicense the template;
  • give the template away;
  • include the editable template in another digital product;
  • bundle the template with another product for resale;
  • upload the template to a marketplace;
  • offer the template as a free download;
  • reproduce the template for the purpose of competing with The Editable Wedding; or
  • make the editable template available to others outside the licensed event.

These restrictions apply whether the template is sold, shared for free, exchanged, gifted or otherwise distributed.

9. Intellectual Property

Unless otherwise stated, The Editable Wedding retains all rights, title and interest in its original:

  • template designs;
  • layouts;
  • compositions;
  • graphics;
  • written content;
  • branding;
  • product imagery owned by us; and
  • other original creative material.

Your purchase does not transfer copyright or ownership of these materials.

You may not claim one of our templates or designs as your own original work.

You may not register, trademark, copyright or otherwise claim exclusive rights over a design substantially derived from one of our templates.

Third-party fonts, graphics, photographs, illustrations, software and other elements remain subject to the intellectual-property rights and licence conditions of their respective owners.

10. Copying and Competing Products

You may not purchase or access our products primarily for the purpose of:

  • copying the design;
  • recreating the design for resale;
  • producing a substantially similar commercial template;
  • studying or extracting the design for a competing product;
  • creating a derivative template collection for commercial sale; or
  • instructing another person or service to reproduce our designs commercially.

Normal personal inspiration or adaptation for your licensed wedding or event is not prohibited by this section.

11. Artificial Intelligence and Automated Design Tools

You may not upload, submit or otherwise use our templates or original designs in an artificial intelligence, machine-learning or generative-design system for the purpose of:

  • training or improving an AI model;
  • reproducing our designs;
  • extracting our design style or components;
  • generating substantially similar products;
  • developing templates for commercial resale; or
  • creating competing products or design collections.

This restriction does not prevent incidental use of ordinary software features that may incorporate automated functionality where they are used solely to edit your licensed design for your own event.

12. Canva

Many products from The Editable Wedding are provided as editable Canva templates.

Canva is a third-party platform and is not owned, operated or controlled by The Editable Wedding.

Your use of Canva is also subject to Canva's own terms, licences and policies.

Unless a product listing states otherwise, our Canva templates are intended to work using a free Canva account.

However, Canva may change its:

  • features;
  • interface;
  • pricing;
  • licence terms;
  • available fonts;
  • design elements; or
  • technical functionality.

The Editable Wedding cannot guarantee the continued availability of third-party Canva features outside our control.

13. Template Access

We recommend opening and saving your purchased template to your Canva account soon after purchase.

We do not guarantee that the original access link will remain available indefinitely.

Template links may occasionally be:

  • updated;
  • replaced;
  • modified;
  • reorganised; or
  • discontinued.

If you have previously purchased a product and later discover that your original template link no longer works, please contact:

theeditablewedding@gmail.com

Where reasonably possible, we will assist you in accessing your purchased design or an appropriate current version.

14. Customer Editing

Unless a listing expressly states that customisation is included, our products are supplied as self-editable templates.

You are responsible for checking all personalised information before printing or distributing your finished design.

This includes:

  • spelling;
  • names;
  • dates;
  • addresses;
  • times;
  • wording;
  • dimensions;
  • formatting; and
  • other event information.

We are happy to provide reasonable assistance where you experience difficulty using one of our templates, but standard purchases do not include a custom-design or full editing service.

Additional customisation may sometimes be available by request and may incur an additional fee.

15. Printing

You may print your finished design yourself or through a third-party printing provider.

The Editable Wedding does not control third-party printers and cannot guarantee:

  • print quality;
  • colour accuracy;
  • trimming;
  • paper quality;
  • print alignment;
  • production timelines; or
  • other aspects of an independent printer's service.

We recommend carefully reviewing your finished file and, where appropriate, ordering a proof before purchasing large quantities.

16. Licence Violations

If you materially breach this Digital Product Licence, your permission to use the affected product may be revoked.

Where appropriate, The Editable Wedding may request that infringing materials are:

  • removed;
  • deleted;
  • taken down from a website or marketplace; or
  • no longer distributed or sold.

We reserve the right to take reasonable steps to protect our intellectual property and enforce our rights where necessary.

17. Extended and Wholesale Licensing

If you would like to:

  • use a design for multiple clients;
  • purchase for repeated professional use;
  • use our designs commercially;
  • distribute products across an organisation;
  • obtain wholesale access; or
  • request another use not covered by this standard licence,

please contact us before using the product for that purpose.

Extended, wholesale and multi-client licences may be available separately.

Contact:

theeditablewedding@gmail.com

Permission must be agreed to in writing before the additional use begins.

18. Consumer Rights

Nothing in this Digital Product Licence excludes, restricts or modifies any rights or remedies that cannot lawfully be excluded under applicable consumer law.

If there is a conflict between this licence and a mandatory legal right available to you, that legal right will apply.

19. Changes to This Licence

We may update this Digital Product Licence from time to time to reflect changes to our products, business practices, technology or legal requirements.

The current version will be published on our website with an updated “Last updated” date.

The licence applying to a particular purchase will generally be the licence in effect when that purchase was made, unless otherwise required by law or agreed with you.
